Dear Athletes |
A slip up in production saw our first newsletter for the season, sent earlier this week, arrive with an incorrect introduction from our Aviva Ironman 70.3 team.
Of course we are fast heading into the fifth anniversary of the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore race; and with over 250 entries today; slots are filling fast.
Here is the LATEST update from Ironman 70.3 Singapore central.
Just weeks after the memorable fourth edition of the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore, event organizers, Hi-Tri (Singapore) are already in the midst of massive preparations for a very special Ironman 70.3 race in 2011 – the 5th Anniversary Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore.
Once again armed with invaluable feedback from so many of our past competitors, we're working towards even more event improvements, especially to the ride (with an exciting prospect of faster, smoother, safer roads!) and some changes to make the run even more exciting for participants and supporters, friends and family.
The unique to Singapore, two-lap, two-lane swim will be retained but various aspects of the 2010 event are already under close scrutiny; and many are being fine tuned to make the 2011 race the best event it can be through innovation, experience and the objective of making this the ultimate race experience for both newcomers and wizened veterans. Already many of those four time competitors have signed in through a special ‘birthday’ deal for past competitors.
So, we go forward from the official opening of entries on June 1st, with a remarkable early entry of over 200 athletes registered for the 2011 Aviva Ironman 70.3. That’s a serious number of triathletes already looking to make Singapore sizzle in 2011!
Of course throughout our joint journey towards that big day out in March, we’ll keep you up-to-date, with news of course improvements, the stars who’ll be coming to Singapore to compete, all the forums, the camps & courses and info days – all designed to make your Ironman 70.3 journey ever more rewarding.
Of course, for those internationals looking to visit with us in Singapore, please remember we have comparable weather to the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, and also the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Florida. And we have 35 slots on offer in Singapore to the Ironman 70.3 world championships. And of course we are a qualifying race to the Asia Pacific Ironman 70.3 Championship.
Right now, throughout the month of June we offer a one-time only individual early bird rate.
Please feel free to pass this newsletter on to ALL your friends, be they sporting or corporate, so they may also take advantage of this great offer.
Remember that apart from the individual challenge of the Ironman 70.3 triathlon, there’s a chance for relay team participation in the 2011 race also. The Ultimate Singapore Team Challenge takes place in conjunction with the Aviva Ironman 70.3 and proved a major draw card for teams in 2010; with no rise in entry pricing for 2011 it will be again!
Till the next issue, the entire Hi-Tri Team wishes you very best of health, and safe training – where ever you may be in this huge Ironman family.
Train safe, race fair.

Highlight of the three iconic Singaporean Landscapes
Merlion Park
Designed by Mr Fraser Brunner, a curator of the Van Kleef Aquarium, the lion head represents the lion spotted by Prince Sang Nila Utama when he re-discovered Singapura in 11 AD, as recorded in the "Malay Annals". The fish tail of the Merlion symbolises the ancient city of Temasek (meaning “sea” in Javanese) by which Singapore was known before the Prince named it “Singapura” (meaning “lion” (singa) “city” (pura) in Sanskrit), and represents Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village.
Singapore Business District
The Central Area comprises the core financial and commercial districts in Singapore, comprising of eleven urban planning areas, namely Downtown Core, Marina East, Marina South, Museum, Newton, Orchard, Outram, River Valley, Rochor, Singapore River and Straits View as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA).
A major landmark of the Central Area is the Singapore River, which originates, then flows directly through it, eventually emptying into what is currently Marina Bay. Historically, it emptied into the Singapore Straits, with the river mouth being the main site of maritime activity for the fledging colony.
